New Yahoo Group, recruiting fans, and more updates!

Hi MJ Family!

I hope you are all doing well! To our American fans, hope you had a safe and enjoyable 4th of July holiday weekend. To our Canadian fans, hope you had a safe holiday on the 1st!

I just started a Yahoo!Group for the "MJ Connections" Network. Please join! It's very easy and I promise, it will be worth it! This will be a great way for US to communicate with YOU directly, via moderated and infrequent e-mail messages.

Membership is by approval only so please give me some time to approve once you submit your request.

All e-mails from the Yahoo!Group will be moderated, meaning you won't get e-mails from ANYONE other than admins - so there won't be risk of spam and there won't be a lot of e-mail. You will not receive any more than a few e-mails per week, depending on how much we have going on.

In fact, I am going to plan on setting up a "schedule" for e-mails: certain days of the week to send "MJ Connection UPDATES" to you all through the Yahoo!Group. I'm thinking about keeping the schedule quite STRICT - only sending 1 e-mail out 2 days a week (possibly something like Sundays and Wednesdays). Then, the only other messages you'd get would be URGENT updates for something that is time-sensitive and cannot wait to be sent. Which means you will only get 2 e-mails per week, possibly 3.

Going forward, this will be VERY important since it is quite difficult to update everyone though Facebook. The Yahoo!Group will allow us to send out e-mail bulletins for important announcements, and we can also benefit from certain other tools that Yahoo!Group offers such ...as polls, files, etc. So PLEASE, please sign up for it! The link is posted above.

We are working on expanding, as we speak. A website is in the works. I'm hoping the website will have a forum, as well as a map and other interactive features. If you don't already know, our Twitter page is quite active. The YouTube page is up and I've already posted a video - a music video that I hope you will all check out when you have a few minutes. The Blog is up and has a few entries, so far. We have someone working on graphics so that will be exciting, and we may even have our very own LOGO - something that we'll possibly be VOTING on (so that's just one reason why having the Yahoo!Group with it's "poll" feature will be helpful).

I want to give a HUGE shout-out to Jeanie, my amazing co-administrator! She is such a lovely person and she is doing an incredible job helping out with the page so far! That said, I know as we continue to grow she and I won't be able to handle it ALL by ourselves - so we still would love to have some more administrators join us. It's not hard, as I'm sure Jeanie can tell you. Just have to keep an eye out for the page, your fellow fans and Michael - and make a post or "monitor" the page from time to time - something we all pretty much do already anyway! If you're interested in helping, please let me know.

I'm THRILLED that we have almost 600 people already! In less than a month! That's just fantastic! Still, we have a lot of work to do in that area. There are MILLIONS of Michael fans on Facebook, and online, and our biggest "legacy" is to connect with most of them! I didn't call the page "MJ *CONNECTIONS*" for nothing. ;)

So, what I'm asking of each and everyone of you right now is something very simple and easy. Scout the internet. Scout Facebook. Scout Twitter. Scout MySpace. Scout any social networking site you frequent, or know of. Reach out to members of any other MJ Groups you may belong to. Invite more MJ fans to join us! I'm not asking you to go out of your way to do so, but if each of us just recruits a few fans we can grow quickly in no time! Anything you can do to help would be much appreciated. :)

Just as a quick reminder - before I close this update - the discussion board for the page is active! There are some posts there but there hasn't been much discussion. I urge you all to take a look at the posts and participate if you'd like, or even start a few discussions of your own. In addition, we have the ability to post videos and photos to the page, and members ARE able to upload ... so please feel free to share any MJ related pics or videos you'd like!

If you have any questions or ideas, as always, please let me know. My "inbox" is always open, LOL. Everything is coming together very well and I hope within a few weeks we'll be expanding even further. Keep an eye out for more fun and exciting announcements and projects! Remember, the more connected we are, the more impact we can have for Michael ... and the more friendships we can form with one another! :) Until next time ...

Make ONE change in your life, at least one. Michael knew our world was in grave danger before he passed, and we've seen just how close his predictions may be with all of the recent disasters (natural and man-made) in the last year alone. If we don't do something NOW, it's at the point of no-return, just like Michael said. Michael touched BILLIONS of people with his humanitarian work and his music. If each of us commit to making at least one small life change, well, we can make a difference.

Sadly, Michael is no longer here … so we have to continue his fight for him. It's up to US!

His words were never truer than they are today. "It's US, or else it'll never be done."

Please pass this video, or at least this MESSAGE, along. There isn't a moment to waste. Our lives, our futures, and the future of our children, depend on it!! Don't let Michael's work and message fall on deaf ears. In addition to fighting for the TRUTH and JUSTICE for Michael and HIS good name, we must also fight to make his untimely and tragic passing count for something more. He loved this world more than any human being in our lifetime ever did or could. What better way to honor his legacy than to preserve life on this planet for his children, and our own?

CREATIVE NOTES regarding this Fan Video:

I decided to take the first verse quite literally, focusing on the devastating loss of Michael himself. We all know that the media, in the end, is what truly killed MJ. The libel, the slander, the lies and the never-ending distortion of the truth; Michael’s soul could only take so much abuse. From the tender age of 5, this was a man who lost his childhood, his innocence and his privacy – and the world never allowed him a chance to reclaim any of it. I truly believe that people like Joe Jackson, Oprah Winfrey, Martin Bashir, Tom Sneddon, Ed Bradley, and so many others in between, all had just as much to do with Michael’s death as Conrad Murray ultimately did. Each one of them helped chip away pieces of his giant heart until, on June 25th, 2009, it finally shattered under all the pressure.

For the second verse of the song, I took a more metaphorical approach. Michael loved the planet so deeply – and the environment is such a large part of Michael’s message – and that is why I identified with ‘Mother Earth’ for the verse dealing with the loss of the mother.

In the end, I circle back to the media and the people most responsible for ‘Mother Earth’ losing her greatest, and most passionate, advocate. I’m hoping it emphasizes just how much WE need to pick up the slack now that Michael is no longer here to speak out himself. Just because he is gone, it does not mean his message and his hope cannot live on through US!

Thank you for watching, for reading, and I hope you will take one good look at the man, or woman, in the mirror today and decide to “make a change” for yourself – and for all of us! Sending my L.O.V.E. and gratitude to you all, and most of all, I am sending my love to Michael. Rest now, sweet angel. Your job is done; we can take it from here.

Hi MJ Fans,

Well, the day we have all dreaded is here. We will make it through, together.

Please don't feel like you are alone. If anyone needs to reach out, please do so, and please continue to support one another. We are all united in our love and our feelings of loss. Any of the pages posted on the "links" or "favorite pages" section are filled with devoted fans just like you, so please visit them and make yourself welcome. You can also post to the wall here or even use the "discussion" section to start conversations and talk amongst yourselves.

I know it is hard but hopefully we can spend this day celebrating & honoring Michael's LIFE and his beautiful legacy, rather than putting too much focus on mourning his death.

To those of you who are going to be attending special vigils and services, please be safe and I hope you enjoy connecting with more MJ fans. We would love to hear about your experiences from any of the events, if you are willing to share. We'd especially love to hear from anyone going to major events such as those being held at Forest Lawn, the Jackson home in Gary or the Apollo in NYC.

I know I keep saying this but ... either way, however you choose to get through June 25th, again I want ALL of you to know "You Are Not Alone."

Welcome to MJ Connections (A Michael Jackson Fan Network) - Wanna meet fans in your area?

Hello fellow MJ fans,

I hope you are doing well and finding strength to get through this emotionally difficult week. Sending L.O.V.E. to you all!

I created a new page here on Facebook a few days ago. Something to try & help connect all of the amazing pages we already have for different regions. I'm calling it "MJ Connections (A Michael Jackson Fan Network)."

I was wondering if you could help spread the word about it by joining, inviting your friends and sending the link to the members of any MJ related groups you may be a part of (feel free to just copy & paste this message along with it if you do). So far I only have 19 people, and obviously for the idea to truly work I need to have a LOT more. Honestly, the only way it WILL work is if everyone gets involved.

I don't think there is another Facebook page like it (if there is, and you know of it, PLEASE let me know) ... but I'm hoping it will allow MJ fans to connect in more direct and personal ways.

What is the intention of this page, you ask? It's simple. I was trying to set up a Candlelight Vigil to gather with fellow MJ fans in my city on Friday, and in the process of doing so I realized that - unless you live in a major city like New York, London or LA - there doesn't seem to be an "easy" way to locate fellow MJ fans who live close by. So I set out to try and find a way to fix that.

I think we all want to find ways to get to know our fellow MJ fans, not just on the internet, but in real life as well. So that's the purpose of this page; to get groups of fans together to meet in person, not just online.

Now I know that many regions already have pages, and the point of "MJ Connections" is to BRING those pages TOGETHER in one place. If you check out the page, you'll see that I already have links to many of the active ones some of you all have created. It is not my intention to "step on the toes" of those pages. Rather, I'm actually trying to HONOR them by not only making them more accessible but by encouraging MORE pages and groups like them. :)

Bringing fans together to celebrate our love for Michael, to remember him, to pay tribute to his life and to carry on his message and his legacy ... what can possibly be better than that? I know there are millions of fans all across the world, and surely there are many who, like me, would love to connect somehow with people who share the same passion for our beloved King of Pop. The best friendships are often formed through passion, and who has more passion that Michael Jackson's fans?

Think about it! Being able to get together with a group of MJ fans in your hometown or neighborhood to celebrate Michael's birthday. Donating toys to your local children's hospital with MJ fans in your city. Taking a road-trip with MJ fans to see Captain Eo at Disneyland. Or just meeting up for a picnic in the park to talk about Michael and listen to his music all day long with people who LOVE it as much as you do! Sure, many people already have this ability ... but if you live in a smaller town or country you might not be so lucky. I'm hoping that "MJ Connections" can help change that for the rest of us!

If the page takes off I'm also looking for others to help me with administrative duties. It would be great to eventually have an administrator or two from every major country, at the very least. I'd love to, not only connect all of the regional MJ fan networks, but also help anyone who wants to create a network for their own area if there isn't already one active. Before we're done I'm hoping there will be an active group for every single city and country in the world, from Tokyo to Vancouver and everywhere in between!
